New to RPing? Not sure what it is? Well, I'll try my best to describe Online, Forum Based RPing.
Roleplaying is fairly simple. It may sound difficult, but it's easy when you get used to it.
[Note: words in italics are defined in the glossary towards the end of this post.]
RP Forums tend to be F2P (free to play) and PBP (play by post). Most RP Forums are categorised - this means you get forums specifically for one subject, for example, this forum is for fantasy-style RPing. Others are based on books and films. Some are meant for everything. It depends what kind of literature you preffer to write, as to which forum is best for you.
Basically, you create an avatar, and make up stories about him/her. You could write a story about your avatar, and another person's avatar. They could be friends, or something. But the key thing is: You can only control your own avatar, unless you are RPing as a different avatar, created by yourself.
A Thread is a chain of posts. One thread is one story, or place. For example: I might create a thread on a town. That town would then be roleplayed in. Please note: You have to start a roleplay with each thread you make. Also, you can only have one story in each thread.
A post is where you submit something. All the text you have read, and are about to read now, is one post. When you write something, and click 'submit', you are submitting one post.
Note: Please do not double-post. This means, you can only submit one post in a thread, before a person replies. If you wish to add something, click the 'edit' or 'modify' button, at the top of your post.
I hope this helps! If you want to find out more, please PM me, by clicking my name, and pressing the Private Message button.
